At the end of August, we welcomed the fabulous Dunamis Choir - a group of mainly young people from East London. What a night! People are still talking about it weeks later.
Here at St. Marks Baptist Church we celebrated Maundy Thursday by having a meal all together, similar to the meal that the disciples would have shared with Jesus.
Some scripted lines were read by various people in the congregation to set the scene and the context of the occasion, and we shared communion as a church family, as well as a meal much like the meal they would have had in the location and time of the Passover Meal.
The food was delicious and it really brought the occasion to life!
Recently at St. Mark's Baptist Church we held a Latin American themed charity night of food, music and Latin America quiz and game fun!
Home-made Empanadas, cakes and soup were served alongside chilled out music by Vanessa Hartley, and uplifting songs by Parkway Gospel Choir.
It was a relaxed atmosphere but an enjoyable and light-hearted Friday evening event and it was great to be able to hold a fun and flavoursome event in our church hall!
All in all, it was brilliant, and they all seemed really relaxed and natural at it all, despite it being many of their first times doing anything like this. We as a congregation thoroughly enjoyed everything they shared with us, and the really natural way they did it.
